The Mizuno Wave Rider β edit

The digitalisation of the world means the yearning of nature is become stronger and stronger. Looking for green, grey and brown environments to get away from normal life is more popular than ever. Mizuno’s newest Wave Rider Beta release consists of three new colourways, all in tune with nature. Whether you’re in a bustling city center, or on the outskirts and close to trees, let these new Wave Rider Beta’s inspire you to commune with the great outdoors.

Mother of Pearl/India Ink, Summer Sand/Dark Shadow or Pristine/Moonlit Ocean? Or is the well-known and returning Nimbus Cloud/Quiet Shade colourway more your style?

The Icon

Combining tradition and craftsmanship with technology and innovation, the new Wave Rider β is a tribute to one of the true icons of Mizuno’s running world: the Wave Rider. Redesigned from scratch, while using the design language from some iconic models of its line, the Wave Rider β represents a perfect balance of innovation and tradition.

The Inspiration

This collection looks to the great outdoors as its main source of inspiration. The plants and trees continuously undergo a range of complex, yet unconscious processes: nothing is static, and everything is in flux in nature as much as in our lives. Becoming aware of this constant movement can help shift our mind out of auto-pilot and into a more connected, present state of mind. The earthy tones of this collection speak of the desire to commune with nature and to become freer, looser versions of ourselves.

The Shoes

The Wave Rider β is Mizuno Sportstyle’s brand new silhouette that draws inspiration from various Wave Rider iconic models. Built on the midsole and outsole unit of the latest Wave Rider 26, the sneaker combines all of Mizuno’s latest running technology for unparalleled comfort and performance. On top of this sits a brand new upper which reminds of various Wave Rider models all the way back to the first introduction to the market in 1997. The pointed and dynamic toe cap of the Wave Rider β draws its inspiration from the eighth, ninth, tenth and eleventh Wave Rider models. Mizuno’s logo in the cut-through heel design is positioned on the lateral side of the heel while the one on the tongue is once again placed in a frame, in this case in a circle. Instead, the medial side of the shoe is kept clean and without the Runbird logo.
