adidas x POP

POP Training Company: the harsh educational facility where Dutch skaters are formed. What does it take for a youngin’ to skate in the challenging Dutch elements… all weather conditions, walking miles and miles for that prime skate spot. It’s not easy. The remote POP Training Company facility develops a skateboard life mentally, physically and educationally.

Following the short film by Fabio de Frel earlier this year, this is adidas’ en POP Trading Company’s second instalment in their collaborative efforts. This time around focusing on outfits worn by staff, or by students. Outfits embracing the skateboard life, or ideal for situations off the board. POP was keen to keep this collaboration within the classic Originals vibe, selecting archival and very timeless pieces.

Design details, such as using premium soft leather/suede, woven mesh, gold accents and even a vintage-style synthetic lace were added to the footwear to give a unique look but not such as to lose anything from the trueness of the silhouettes. This carries over to the apparel and incorporates the ‘opposites attract’ idea, with the technical fabric of the polo shirt playing against the ring-neck California tee, an adidas staple from the late 70s.

The pant option also emphasises this dual contrast approach, regular retro style or zip-off for shorts, either way great versatility. The track top in its colours is pure vintage training with POP giving their twist by making it a three-quarter zip and adding a tone on tone flock print on the back. Ready or training. A Superlite cap featuring a white three stripe lockstitch and logo embroidery and striped athletic crew socks make up the accessories and complete the Pop Training Company uniform. Enroll now.
