Throughout the years we’ve tried to show the game of football is more than just trying to 1-up an opponent on the pitch… by running a bit faster, passing a bit harder, getting that last minute winning goal, drinking a beer in the bar or in the stands while calling the ref names. It’s about being with your mates, having a purpose in life, an outlet for the daily struggles and a sense of belonging. We frequently zoom in on the people on the outside the field: the droves of fans walking to the stadium and screaming their lungs out when their lifelong team scores. That’s not strange because we’re part of the same group.

What SPEZIAL and Gary Aspden always do brilliantly is showcasing a side of life relatable to football culture. And for FW23 things are no different. The main role this time round is none other than Roy Keane: legendary Mancunian and Irish international in the 90s and 00s. We see him walking his dog Jet in the gorgeous English lakeside nature, while sporting the very matching SPEZIAL FW23 collection. Roy talks about what you feel as a footballing legend, the highs and lows he’s experienced and how he copes with that in his life-after-football. As non-professional-athletes we tend to forget there is a life after, which hardly ever lives up to the what a player experienced during his or her career. The visuals are exquisite as always and getting a legend like Roy opening up is very refreshing.
