New Balance & Calico Club / present: The House We Came From
To us, New Balance’s Allerdale is a true portrayal of what makes England, England. The craftsmanship, use of colours, even its name: Allerdale. The county which New Balance calls its UK home: their Flimby factory. Going back to roots is not something you do often, or at all. New Balance went back to its UK roots with the Allerdale and thus an idea was born: Erik was going to do the same. Together with New Balance, Calico Club / went off to Burnley, visiting specific places important to the Atkinson family: his mother’s maiden name. As co-founder of Calico Club and always inspired by storytelling, this one hits home.
Accompany him on a journey to his mother’s childhood home, past the pub where granddad was a familiar face, the street bearing the Atkinson name, the shop his great-grandfather once had and onward to Turf Moor — a cherished landmark for Burnleyites. All beautifully narrated by Sue: his mum.
