Milan Fashion Week SS23 The Comeback of the Suit
Milan Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2023, the comeback of the suit across the runways was prominent. Italy with its rich history of tailored suits and looking dapper showed that the suit is not only in the past but will come back as an essential in everyone’s wardrobe.
Luxury brands such as Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Bally, Jill Sander and GCDS have taken a new take on the traditional tailored suits. The new take on suits is all about the implementation of a more comfort-centric aesthetic. The trousers are wide-legged and the blazers oversized, taken inspiration from ‘80s and ‘90s fashion.
The suit does not only come with a formal shirt underneath, but a wide variety of options are possible to match with the suit. From a tanktop to a mesh t-shirt all promote a more casual and renewed look on suits. To complete the looks the designers used shoulder bags or clutch bags, which gave the suits a more playful feel.
